European Islands and Outermost Regions face specific challenges that slow down their transition towards clean, sustainable energy systems. NESOI Plus addresses these barriers by supporting local, community-driven solutions.
Energy Constraints: Islands often rely heavily on imported energy and have limited local energy autonomy.
Geographical Isolation: Remoteness from mainland Europe limits access to networks, knowledge exchange, and collaboration opportunities.
Funding Barriers: Energy projects face difficulties in accessing suitable financing and investment opportunities.
Skills Gap: Local actors often lack the technical, financial and administrative expertise needed to develop energy projects.

Empower Energy Communities
Support the creation and development of bottom-up Energy Community initiatives, promoting inclusive and citizen-driven energy models aligned with EU Green Deal targets.
NESOI Methodology for ORs
Tailor the CWA-based standardised protocol developed under NESOI to address the specific technical, social and geographical challenges of the pilot regions.
Support Project Development
Provide technical guidance, feasibility assessments and business modelling support to help projects meet investor expectations and progress towards implementation.
Develop Investment Concepts
Design integrated investment concepts combining technical, financial and organisational elements to create bankable project pipelines.
