Today, 6 March 2023, we will start the Short Study Tour, one of the several interesting initiatives promoted by NESOI – The European Islands Facility. The Tour will take place on Astypalea, an island in the archipelago of Dodecanese located in the Aegean Sea. The Tour is hosted by DAFNI – The Network of Sustainable Greek Islands and the Municipality of Astypalea, and it will be managed by our partner R2M.

Sustainable Actions for Viable Energy (SAVE) - NESOI

Sustainable Actions for Viable Energy (SAVE) is a project supported by NESOI European Islands managed by our partners from CERTH and promoted by the Minoan Energy Community, the Minoan Pediadas Municipality of the Region of Crete (Greece).

NESOI will contribute to the good development of the smart grid, which will lead to the compensation of the electricity consumption, which will ultimately bring the upgrade of their energy performance.

Catania will add to its fleet of public transport 11 electric buses that will operate in the city performing the required tests. The buses, that will be availabe starting from January, will have a range of 300 km and are equipped with air conditioning, something essential due to the temperatures of the island. To these buses, a second batch of 18 full electric ones will be added to the fleet by the AMTS in coordination with the municipality.

The application period for the NESOI Short Study Tours closed on 20 January 2023 after more than two months, due to the extension of the deadline from the 31 December 2022 to the 20 january 2023. We would like to thank all the interested people for their participation!

Next steps: the evaluation and selection period will take place during the month of February and the Short Study Tours will already start in the beginning of March!
