EU islands are arising as clean energy frontrunners thanks to their experience facing issues that are now critical for the EU as a whole (like fossil fuel dependence or the need to increase green energy production) and their limited scale. In this session, the Clean energy for EU islands secretariat and NESOI - EU Islands Facility will announce the winners of the #CE4EUIslands Gamechanger award, which recognises ten projects that are having a substantial impact on EU islands’ clean energy transition.
The workshop will show best practices and recognise ten island projects that are making an impact on the EU islands clean energy transition. Three projects will be selected as finalists, and there will be one Grand Jury Award and one Public Award (that will be voted on during the workshop). During the session, the three finalist projects will be explained to provide inspiration on how islands are tackling issues such as energy independence and decarbonisation of their energy and transport systems.
