Introduction

Thank you for visiting our website, which has been developed and now runs in the frame of the research project “NESOI” funded by the Horizon 2020 program for Research and Innovation.

NESOI is being implemented by a consortium led by the Coordinator "SINLOC - SISTEMA INIZIATIVE LOCALI SPA" . More information about the consortium of NESOI can be found here . The website of NESOI is being managed and hosted by the Consortium partner “Centre for Research and Technology Hellas / Information Technologies Institute (CERTH/ITI)” , which is a non-profit research organization having its registered office in Thermi Thessaloniki at 6th km Charilaou-Thermi Road, 57001, Thessaloniki, Greece (acting as Data Controller).

This Privacy Policy is compliant with the General European Regulation on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data EU 2016/679 (hereafter ‘GDPR’) and aims to inform you about how NESOI collects and processes your personal information when you use and navigate through its website and NESOI platform.

By navigating and using this website, users/visitors acknowledge that they have read, understood, and unconditionally accepted this Privacy Policy.

Personal data collected and its use

When you wish to contact us, by filling out the online contact form available on the website, you provide us with your name and e-mail address. This data is required for communication reasons and purposes of a correct submission since it allows NESOI team to respond completely to your message/request.

When you express your interest in receiving the NESOI Newsletter, you provide us with your e-mail address and optionally, your first and last name. This information is necessary for the NESOI team in order to contact you with the NESOI Newsletter and to disseminate information about NESOI’s activities and results.

When you register with the NESOI Helpdesk account, you are required to provide your e-mail address and full name, and optionally your phone number, and time zone preference, and to create a strong password that is encrypted. This data collection is necessary for registration and proper account creation purposes in order to streamline support requests and better serve the user with a support ticket system.

When you register with the NESOI Platform, you will be required to provide us with your first and last name, email address, job title, user type (citizen, freelance expert, private/publicly owned company, or public sector Institution), the company name that you work for, potential administrator role of your company in consulting NESOI database, interests in investments in projects, funding of projects, or/and providing or finding technology solutions, and choose a strong password that is encrypted. This information is collected for registration purposes and for the proper provision of the platform’s services.

If you are a registered user of the NESOI Platform, you should edit your user profile by providing some mandatory personal information, i.e. first and last name, job title, country and region, the company you work for, and some optional data, such as phone/mobile number, self-introduction, LinkedIn or/and Twitter profile, and personal website. This personal data is necessary for NESOI platform to deliver its services (e.g. profile and smart matching, online collaboration space, e-learning, equity crowdfunding, etc.), share best practices and information, and offer its tools.

It is also noted that certain technical information that constitutes personal data may be automatically collected (i.e. through the browser software or the mobile device you use to access our website), such as the Internet Protocol address of your device [e.g. personal computer, laptop computer, tablet, smartphone, etc.], cookies information, etc. This technical information is necessary and used for the unhindered operation and appearance of the website. Thus, we are using data to optimize website functionality and performance and enhance user experience and satisfaction. Lawful basis of data processing

One of the main data protection principles is the lawfulness of personal data processing. The processing of the personal data that you provide to us through the NESOI website and platform is based on your consent. Please note that you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.

The website of NESOI does not sell or lease the collected data to third parties. Such disclosure could be made to official government and supervising bodies, public authorities, and organizations, courts, third parties acting as data processors, or/and the Consortium Partners of NESOI.

Noted that recipients of the personal information collected through the website’s contact page and NESOI Newsletter registration form are also the Consortium Partners Sinloc, R2M, and Zabala. This data sharing is necessary for purposes of more effective communication and dissemination, e.g. for the NESOI team to promptly respond to your message/request and/or contact you to disseminate information about NESOI’s activities and results. Consortium Partners are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information and respect the protection of your personal data.

It is also highlighted that your data is not transferred outside the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA).

Storage and deletion of personal information that we collect

Any personal information you provide us through the NESOI website is securely stored in a database on the NESOI’s website email server hosted by CERTH/ITI only for as long as necessary for us to comply with our contractual obligations to the funding authority of NESOI, and no longer than five (5) years from project’s completion.

Security of personal information that we collect

The personal data collected through the website are strictly confidential. NESOI’s website takes information security seriously and uses reasonable physical, electronic, and organizational procedures and measures to ensure an appropriate level of protection against the risks arising from processing, such as accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure, or access.

You have a number of rights, which you can exercise at any time. In particular, you have the:
