Webinar: Climate change adaptation on European islands

Alessandra Montanelli from Sinloc presented NESOI at the webinar Climate change adaptation on European islands on the 29th of April.

This webinar was organized by the Conama Foundation in the framework of the project “Insular Connection to facilitate Climate Change Adaptation” developed with the support of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge through the Biodiversity Foundation.

Archipelagos and islands are especially vulnerable to climate change. Due to their insular characteristics, they are more exposed to the effects of extreme meteorological phenomena, increasing temperatures, rising sea levels and to suffer impacts on their ecosystems which are more sensitive to environmental changes. In addition, islands are ideal natural laboratories to analyze the complex relationships of the climate change's effects and their impact on different socio-economic activities (water, energy, agriculture, tourism, etc.).

In this seminar, some successful projects about climate change adaptation on European islands were presented and NESOI was one of them.
