WHAT IS THE PROJECT ABOUT?
- The project aims to implement on Nisyros the energy transition towards zero emission.
- The project includes renewable energy generation: photovoltaics and small scale wind.
- Energy storage as well as net metering systems will also be included.
- This will allow covering the consumption of the desalination and the wastewater treatment plants, the public buildings, and some of the other public infrastructures of the island, e.g. public lighting.
- The project also includes the definition of an operation plan for Sustainable Mobility (Electric Vehicles).
- The development of the proposed renewable energy systems will make the villages of Mandraki, Paloi, Nikia and Emporio energy autonomous.
