WHAT IS THE PROJECT ABOUT?

  • The project addresses the specific issues faced by small islands: grid constraints, fossil fuels dependence, electricity interruptions, poor insulation, ageing and remote populations, low incomes; limited public transport, access to services deprivation....
  • The project will deliver a Clean Energy Transitional Agenda (CETA) based on community engagement, creating a shared vision towards carbon neutral islands.
  • The project will also study the feasibility for a Electric Vehicle and Renewable Energy Hub Network.
  • The project will enable citizens of the Mull Archipelago to work together, take ownership, design and deliver their Transition to carbon neutral.

HOW WILL THE EU ISLANDS FACILICY NESOI SUPPORT THE PROJECT?

  • Elaboration of a Clean Energy Transition Agenda (CETA): support community participation processes, local community engagement workshops, CET A phases 1 and 2
  • Feasibility study:
    • Analysis of existing planning documentation, identification of the project boundaries
    • Assessment of the key project sizing drivers taking also into consideration local characteristics
    • Identification of suitable technological options given existing project sizing requirements and constraints
    • Cost-Benefit analysis, impact evaluation, identification of the preferred option
    • Risk analysis and identification of available mitigation strategies; assessment of existing procurement options
    • Financial modelling and identification of target scenario, identification of financing/funding options
    • Action plan and identification of project monitoring procedures
